Caius Howlett

Caius Howlett is a percussionist and composer from Baltimore, Ontario. He started playing drumset at the age of 4, with a family of musicians. The first band Caius was a part of was the oldest band in Canada, “Her Majesties Royal Marines Association Band Of Ontario”, for 17 years. This band involved playing military marches and Broadway standards from the early 60’s to 70’s. This band also performed at the “Rochester International Military Tattoo” and “The Battle Of Plattsburgh Commemoration” services. The band had played for numerous international government officials including the Governor General of Canada. During these years he was part of performances with the Victorian Operetta Society playing musical productions in Cobourg for 10 years. These shows included “Seussical The Musical”, “Shrek The Musical”, “White Christmas”, “A Christmas Carol”, “Camelot”, “Guys and Dolls” and many more. He had a one year contract with the Northumberland Orchestra and Choir of which he played various percussion instruments including mallet percussion. He recently played in Gravenhurst’s Opera House’s 2017 production of “Swing” by Alan Lund and Howard Cable under the direction of Mark Camilleri(The Canadian Tenors). Caius has had the opportunity to study with Jeff Friedl, drummer for Devo, Puscifer, Ashes Divide and A Perfect Circle. Caius currently is composing music for small local artists and directors in Toronto and frequently performing with multiple groups. Caius opened his own production business “Soundscape Music“ which includes projects such as Re:wind Entertainment, AIRE, Embassy, F4nt3m and other small projects in 2018. Caius’ current aspirations include completing his Masters Degree at York University as well as seeking knowledge and discovery through the DisPerSion Lab.
