Ziqin Yang

As a composer and performer, Ziqin intends to pursue music and mature into an influential composer and theorist by furthering his postgraduate studies by acquiring more theoretical knowledge and augmenting his composition skills through graduate composition study at York University. Influenced mainly by folk composer Kotaro Ohio and many other contemporary classical musicians, Ziqin is interested in the harmonic and melodic content juxtaposing major and minor sonorities to reconcile tonal and atonal ideas. As a scholar in Artificial Intelligence music generator research, Ziqin intends to demonstrate the critique from the traditional Western musical theory perspectives on the challenges in real commercial and academic applications and the potential of AI music generator development in the future. He pursues setting a platform and building connections for exploring the lexicon in Artificial Intelligence development in music among computer scientists, data analysts, musicologies, and composers to push the boundaries of the practicality of academic influences and agonists in applying the commercial music industry market.
